The activation of the speedometer with a functioning speed display in the VW Golf 8 with a virtual cockpit or normal speedometer is done by pressing the OK button 3 times quickly, which is located on the steering wheel. 

OK button 3 times quickly → Mode 1.  OK button 3 times quickly → Mode 2.   OK button 3 times quickly → Mode 3.

Functional sequence:

Mode 1: The actual speed is displayed permanently – only 10% of the actually driven distance is counted. From 100 Miles/Km, only 10 Miles/Km is counted.(This mode is not always available)

Mode 2: The actual speed is displayed permanently – only 20% of the actually driven distance is counted. From 100 Miles/Km, only 20 Miles/Km is counted.

Mode 3: The actual speed is displayed permanently – only 50% of the actually driven distance is counted. From 100 Miles/Km, only 50 Miles/Km is counted.

Mode 4: Everything back to the original mileage counting ✅

Note: Percentage counting is variable and dependent on car’s software.
